About

Hi, I’m Lori. I’ve been writing for over 20 years. My stories have been published in magazines like Reader's Digest, Air Canada's enRoute, WestJet Magazine, Western Living, British Columbia Magazine, Spa magazine, the Dance Current, the Vancouver Sun, and USA Today. I was also the Editor of the Registered Massage Therapists of BC journal, Massage Matters. My focus is on telling stories about people and places, and what makes them extraordinary.

I also dabble in acting and was the voice actor for Alex Reagan in the podcast, The Black Tapes. You can hear my voice in several other podcasts, too.

For more information about communications services I provide, please see my Services page.

I previously worked as an Occupational Therapist and ran a mental health service for adolescents and young adults, specializing in eating disorders. I also worked for a pediatric centre that served children and youth on the autism spectrum and who had other disabilities.

  • I starting working as a travel writer in 2002, covering destinations all over the world. My interest in culture runs deep. I hold an MA in Dance Anthropology and have written extensively about dance. In 2012, I published a book about my travels across Canada to study Indigenous and non-indigenous dances (Dancing Through History: In Search of the Stories that Define Canada) and in 2014 I re-issued an earlier book of poetry about my struggle with bulimia (Silent Screams: Into and Out of Bulimia Through Poetry).

I have also worked as a copywriter and copyeditor for a range of clients, including the UBC Department of Pediatrics – BC Children's Hospital, Q2 Workplace Wellness, BC Business Magazine, Florence (healthcare staffing app), and Tailwind (business newsletters).
