Richmond Hotel: Richmond Inn

Richmond Hotel: Sheraton Airport Hotel Room

Soon to be the Sheraton Richmond Hotel, the Best Western Richmond Hotel (to make matters more complicated, locals all refer to the property as the Richmond Inn) is another Richmond hotel going through a major renovation.

From its beginnings as the Richmond Inn to the Best Western to a Sheraton hotel, the renos are pretty extreme. The property still has some older rooms left facing the courtyard, yet the renovated rooms are completely up to snuff. Muted colours and modern furnishings replace the flowery bedspreads and yellow and brown colour scheme of the original rooms.

The change over from a Best Western to a Sheraton is certainly upping the level of service and the overall look of the hotel. But the same community feel of the old Richmond Inn is kept in the re-done Harold’s Restaurant.

What I liked:

  • “The Link” is a new-ish signature of Sheraton hotels. Instead of a closed-in business centre with computers and printers (although there is that, too), they’re adding these roundtables with computers on them for guests to use in a common area. At the Richmond hotel, there is also a communal table in Harold’s Restaurant for people to plug in their laptops and get work done without having to be cooped up in your own room.
  • Harold’s Restaurant is great. It’s a mix of home cooked menu items with an open, oval bar equipped with numerous TVs to watch the game.
