Thank you so much for your well written site. I am recent publishing graduate based in Vancouver, and am really thinking about applying for some jobs up north. Not only is Vancouver lacking in media jobs but there is something about the north that seems very interesting to me. Maybe after a year of full time school, my brain is craving some adventure. and an escape from city life.

I will be taking a closer look at your site and articles. Thanks again for all the great info you’ve posted.

You may be able to tell by my address that I love the lighthouse. Many years as a child I spent my summer vacation in the light and in the town. We lived in Parrsboro for 2 years and have not missed a summer in returning for at least a few days. Sunshine Inn is a super place to stay. Stef and Dave are a great team. Russell Spencer was my grandfather, as well and Nana Spencer (Margaret) ran a little store called Spencer’s Variety. Blueberry raking was another summer ritual to earn back to school money for us kids.

Ha, hey John!! Wicked video- I smiled the whole way through. Ya know, I wasn’t sure how to fit in the strippers. I remember more about how shitty I felt that whole St. John’s trip than what their story was, so I didn’t actually find out anything about them… I’m heading back to Nfld in October and was supposed to head up to Labrador to run the Trapline Marathon, but the Labrador part fell through. I definitely want to get up there, though. How long are you planning to be there?

I got the same news via email. Here’s what they said:
“For security reasons is it not possible to travel with DFDS seaways without booking a cabin/berth. We do not offer “Walk on” fares.
As for bringing your own food, it is allowed, however it cannot be consumed on public places. So if you bring your own food, you have to consume it in your cabin.”

I’ll edit my above post to reflect this, although I’m still wondering how the people I saw got on. Perhaps there’s a local loophole that allows those in-the-know to travel by walk on…

Thanks for your quick response Lori.

I gave the UK team a call this morning and they said it wasn’t possible to book just a “walk on” ticket because of “health and safety” reasons. Silly! Especially since I plan on dancing the night away.

Let me know if you find out anything different
