Yes, I will definitely pay better attention to where my passport is! It was stuck to a plastic press kit folder, so I’d have to say that it happened within the first few days of my month-long trip, when I was at the conference. So, for almost 25 days, I didn’t once check on the document. Lesson learned.

YIKES!!! That is one of my worst fears. I worry so much when I pack, I triple check EVERYTHING and still sometimes panic. I would HATE to go through that and have to spend all that money for a passport you had all along. Again, the positive side is they were helpful and it was NZ. Could have been a lot worse. Glad you made it home!

Congrats to your book. I can absolutely understand your love for the Canadian North. I have been travelling up there for almost 17 years – sometimes more than once and I’m still itching to get back there. One place I haven’t made it to yet is Churchill, but I’m working on it. Have you ever been to the east Canadian Arctic? This is on my current priority list.

I made the mistake of making a reverse booking on an Air Canada flight. I meant to fly round trip from Edmonton to Victoria then Victoria back to Edmonton. What was booked was Victoria to Edmonton then Edmonton back to Victoria. Air Canada showed me no mercy and sold me another ticket at full price. My daughter and myself sent letters in to Air Canada and we never heard boo back. My brother made the same mistake only his was supposed to be round trip from Edmonton to Grande Prarie and back to Edmonton thru Westjet. Westjet gave him a complimentary ticket and accomadated him on his mistake. Just run a stock compararison use WJA vs AC.A. It is pretty obvious Air Canada’s days are numbered. Good riddence to bad rubbish!

Great info, Carolyn! I went into the embassy on a Monday morning and was on a plane Wednesday night back home. It cost a few hundred dollars, but it was a pretty speedy process, all considering (it didn’t feel speedy, though, as the bills were racking up).
