Getting a Guide at the Cobá Ruins, Mexico…

…That is the question. Some people like to travel so independently, that getting a guide at an attraction is just WAY TOO structured; others like to sponge in as much info as they can, that a guide is mandatory so they can pick his or her brain with questions.

At the Cobá Ruins in Mexico, I got a guide. I’m an independent traveller, but when you’re at such an important and historical place in the world, one you might not ever go back to, it’s worth it to get the facts straight.

I taped my guide (no, that’s not me asking all the questions at the beginning!) to give you a taste of what to expect. He talks about the ball games that the Mayans used to play, as we stand beside the ruins of them. It actually worked out wonderfully: after 45 minutes of walking around the nearby ruins, the guide then leaves you and you go to the Nohoch Mul pyramid on your own. Enjoy.
