After my frightful evening last night, I woke up to the sound of the ocean waves getting the beach ready for me.

Swan Pillows at Cabanas Copal in Tulum, Mexico
I took a closer look at my cabana and was quite pleased: nothing fancy, but the unglamorous mosquito net was draped sweetly around the bed, with two towels folded into a swan and covered with flower petals (later today they turned into kissing swans in the shape of a heart); a water jug for me to devour; a large bathroom with a separate shower; and, the best part of all, the five foot tall windows spanning a glorious view of the turquoise ocean only steps away.
With that I pulled on my bathing suit and got into the water, cooling me down instantly. I swam, soaked and walked along the beach until my memories of yesterday faded away. The white sand on this almost-deserted beach runs on as far as the eye can see.
I’m on the impeccable Mayan Riviera and everything else seems trivial.

I’ve been wanting to go to the clothing-optional Cabanas Copal for some time … but putting on a bathing suit isn’t something I plan to do there!
I hope you’re able to let loose and enjoy the sun a bit while you’re there.
Honestly, once you’re down here, even getting into a bathing suit is easy. Everyone is so laid back and the atmosphere is so relaxing that it’s the exact type of place where you CAN get into a bathing suit, even if you have issues about it back home. This isn’t Cancun; it’s just bodies of all shapes and sizes getting some time in the sun. It’s just so natural and wild at Copal!
I think I wasn’t clear … when I go there, I don’t plan to wear anything at all if I can help it! Enjoying the sun clothes-free on a beautiful clothing-optional beach sounds great to me.
Ah, gotcha! Yes, then get on down there!
