The Lighthouse Hotel on Cape d'Or in Nova Scotia, Canada, overlooking the Bay of Fundy tides.
After my lovely night in Amherst, I went out to the Cape Chignecto Provincial Park and onto the spectacular Cape d’Or in Nova Scotia, Canada. This is where there’s a lighthouse hotel you can spend the night in, or just visit the site and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant overlooking the Bay of Fundy.
Nova Scotia Lighthouse
After driving 5.5 km (3 mi) along a gravel road, parking and then walking down a rocky path, I was stunned to be standing on the very tip of Nova Scotia, looking down to the Bay of Fundy tides (the largest in the world) and jagged cliffs on both sides.

I noticed the Saskatchewan Roughriders flag immediately and then met Darcy Snell, a (obviously) Saskatchewan boy who fell in love with this location and bought the lighthouse. I can see why.
A restaurant with views of everything serves up lunch and dinner to guests and the general public who are in the know about it. Breakfast is served to overnight guests.
The Lighthouse Hotel
Oh, how I wish I could have stayed here, but I could only visit. The simple accommodations at The Lighthouse on Cape d’Or are from $80-$110 for a room in a lighthouse cottage with some shared bathrooms. Or you can rent the whole house to yourself for $340. Pretty darn reasonable.

And then I really fell in love. Out on the tip of the property is a big concrete block. Darcy tells me it’s a helipad, but all I can see is a stage, the most gorgeous stage in the world. I might have even convinced Darcy to start running performances on it, using the grassy hill as the seating. I think I’ve found my paradise…
Honestly, I can see why Darcy found the need to live in this spot. It’s special; it seriously feels magical. Not surprisingly, this was the place that most touched me on my whole Nova Scotia road trip. I was swept off my feet and am still waiting to come down.

What I Liked:
Location, location, location. You can’t beat this rural spot on the tip of Cape d’Or, overlooking the dramatic Bay of Fundy tides.
In low tide, you can walk out on the beach; in high tide, you can watch the powerful waves come in.
Supposedly, because the property is on a point, the sunrise and sunsets are equally as exquisite.

I agree.
My fiancee & I accidentally went down the wrong road and discovered this place. We were in “ah” with the view. We took the time to to have lunch and it was beyond our expectation. The presentation & the meal itself was a true delight. The simplest details to real rose on the table was a classy touch.
We truly recommend to anyone to discovered this gem which can be found at the end of a dirt road.
