“Vesna” means spring in Ukrainian and every spring in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan the Vesna Festival kicks off the season. Last year I flew there to take part in the Ukrainian dance portion and left feeling quite inspired.
Artistic Director Serhij Koroliuk of the Pavlychenko Folklorique Ensemble – a Ukrainian dance group based in Saskatoon – choreographed the below dance that exemplifies the colourful, uplifting qualities that characterize Ukrainian dance. Enjoy!
