When I was younger, my family went to the local go kart track. I was too small to get on, so I watched as my older brother buzzed around the track while I was relegated to the boring peddle boats.

Height Restriction at the Richmond Go Karts, BC (Canada)
Well, I finally got my chance to motor around, this time on the Richmond go karting track. You won’t find it just driving by because the attraction is out on Sidaway Road, just south of the Westminster Highway and Jacombs Road intersection.
After making sure that I indeed met the height requirement 20 years later, (see photo proof) I got a helmet from the rack and ran out to the go karts with Nikki, my partner in crime for the day.
Sending our childish enthusiasm, the young guy who worked there not only offered to take our photo when we drove by, but also told us we could ride for extra time. Whoo hoo! So we got in like giddy teenagers and put the peddle to the meddle.
Nikki had the upper hand at first, but I think that’s only because it was my first time
I definitely passed her and enjoyed some time out ahead before two other riders joined us. We whipped past them and then Nikki passed me as our time came to an end.

Riding at Richmond Go Karts in BC (Canada)
The next day, I knew I wasn’t a kid anymore when my back was sore from all the jostling and I actually had bruises on my spine and other body parts. What a wimp!
What I liked:
- Plain and simple, go karting is fun, so having a track in Richmond adds to the things to do in the city.
- The go kart track is outdoors so, weather permitting, you can enjoy the sunshine (there’s also another one in Richmond that’s indoors).
- Richmond Go Kart Track hosts birthday parties, which I think is a great idea. There’s an arcade and the package includes tokens, go kart rides and a t-shirt.
