WestJet is probably the most popular airline in Canada (excluding the north, which does things differently). You can find low air fares within Canada and they’re constantly expanding their routes (to Cancun, Montego Bay, Europe in the future…).
I was happy, then, when I got an email saying that they are making the airline even better. When most flight companies are cutting customer service, WestJet has bumped up their commitment to travellers.
Here is a snippet of the good things to come, called the WestJet “Care-antee”:
- They will not charge you to change or cancel your flight for 24 hours after you book
- They will not charge you for call centre bookings
- They will not overbook your flight
- They will not charge you for two checked bags
- They will accommodate you if your flight is delayed. Even if it’s Mother Nature’s fault
- They will give you free snacks and refreshments on your flight

Good for people to know.
I’ve always loved WestJet, but sometimes fly Air Canada because of our Visa points. The more I fly Air Canada, the more I love WestJet! Good to see they’re making their customer service even better…and I think it’s time for me to book a flight somewhere fun
I hear ya! I love WestJet but often book Air Canada because of the points. All those Aeroplan points add up with my Visa and free flights for travel writers are so valuable. I heard a rumour that WestJet will be introducing their own points system (not Air Miles) sometime soon, so that might be an option.
