History was made yesterday when Alexandre Bilodeau won Canada’s first gold medal on home soil in the Men’s Freestyle Moguls competition. The 22 year old has been a gracious and overwhelmed winner since his winning run on Cypress Mountain.

He told media today that he wanted to “clarify something” in the midst of all the attention he was getting for being the first Canadian to win gold at home.

“I just want to clarify something: The first gold is not more worth it than the last or the second or the third. They’re all worth the same.”

Alexandre Bilodeau has made sure to emphasize that this is just the beginning of the party and that Canada can look forward to more gold medals in the future.

He was also certain that he wanted to dedicate the gold medal to his older brother, Frederic, who has been his inspiration. Frederic has cerebral palsy and Alex has always said that his brother has taught him so many things about being an athlete, most notably, to never give up.

The Victory Ceremony at BC Place is happening tonight at 7:00pm that includes Alexandre Bilodeau, which will be covered live on CTV.
